Ontolica KnowledgeBase for SharePoint 2003
Ontolica KnowledgeBase is a powerful solution for storing and sharing links. It allows you to create shared link collections on any SharePoint site, including portal sites, personal sites and team sites. Those link collections are ideal e.g. for members of a team that need to store and share relevant links. Ontolica KnowledgeBase is searchable and can be grouped and sorted almost anyway you want to. The title and description of each link are editable.

Based on SharePoint Lists
An Ontolica KnowledgeBase is basically just a SharePoint list. Hence it is created in the same way as one would create a list in SharePoint. Viewing a KnowledgeBase is, however, handled by a specialized Ontolica web part and not by the default SharePoint list web part.
Respects the SharePoint Security Model
Being a SharePoint list, The Ontolica KnowledgeBase inherently comes with all the security features of a list. Hence it is possible to restrict read & write access to a KnowledgeBase
Support for Multiple KnowledgeBase Web parts with different configurations
Ontolica KnowledgeBase provides support for having multiple KnowledgeBase web parts with different configurations of searchable properties, grouping properties and ordering properties. These KnowledgeBase web parts can be placed on any SharePoint site, including: Portal sites, WSS sites and Personal sites. This feature is especially useful when you host multiple portals on the same server, as you might want to provide different search configurations for each portal.
Default Sorting of Items
Change the default sorting of the KnowledgeBase Items to that, which suits your particular organization. KnowledgeBase items may be sorted by Author, Date, Title and Size.
Default Grouping of Items
It is also possible to change the default grouping of the KnowledgeBase. Knowledge Base items may be grouped by Author, Date, KnowledgeBase (the Knowledge Base list that contains the item) and size.
The Maximum Number of KnowledgeBase Items Displayed
Change the maximum number of items shown per page.

Joined View of Multiple KnowledgeBase Lists
The Knowledge Base web part can join the content of multiple Knowledge Base lists from different sites into a single view. This feature opens up a whole set of interesting possibilities including:
- The ability to create a personal Knowledge Base view on your personal site that includes your own links as well as the links from the teams you are working in.
- The ability to create a KnowledgBase page for a department that displays the links from the department itself as well as the items from super departments.
- Configuring which KnowledgeBases to view is easily accomplished in the tool part of the KnowledgeBase web part.
Copy Links to other KnowledgeBases
Authorized users may copy links from one KnowledgeBase to another to which they have write access.
Receive Alerts
Get an alert whenever other users add new links to a KnowledgeBase or edit its existing links. This way you are always up to date with any changes.
Group and Sort KnowledgeBases
Group and Sort KnowledgeBases Ontolica KnowledgeBase can be grouped and sorted almost anyway you like, providing users with the overview of their preference.
KnowledgeBase items may be grouped by Author, Date, KnowledgeBase (the KnowledgeBase list that contains the item), Size and sorted by Author, Date, Title and Size.
Editable Title and Description
The title and description of each link are editable, which helps users survey the links - even though they were not properly named to begin with.
